Summary

This Journeyman Electrician position supports the Combined Joint Task Force–Horn of Africa at a major U.S. diplomatic and military compound in Mogadishu. The U.S. Zone within the airport perimeter includes the U.S. Embassy, United Nations elements, and the African Union Transition Mission in Somalia (ATMIS). This location supports senior U.S. personnel, advises the Somali National Army’s elite Danab Brigade, and helps coordinate broader U.S. Africa Command (AFRICOM) operations across East Africa. The Mogadishu Base Complex serves as a permanent, high-security hub with a continuous U.S. diplomatic and military presence. It relies on complex industrial power systems, established water purification capabilities, and robust life-support infrastructure maintained year-round by LOGCAP personnel. Duties & Responsibilities

• Install, test, and repair grounding systems in accordance with applicable codes, standards, and manufacturer recommendations.
• Plan new or modified installations to minimize material waste.
• Ensure access for future maintenance and avoid unsightly, hazardous, or unreliable wiring in accordance with specifications and local electrical codes.
• Prepare sketches showing the location of wiring and equipment, or follow diagrams and blueprints, ensuring concealed wiring is installed before completion of walls, ceilings, and flooring.
• Measure, cut, bend, thread, assemble, and install electrical conduit using tools such as hacksaws, pipe threaders, and conduit benders.
